I've never thought of Thor as a hippie... I assume it's a reference to his long hair. And is Woden supposed to be Odin? Odin being Thor's father - that's the way it's written in the Marvel Encyclopedia.
Yeah. You read the Marvel Ultimates, and Thor is clearly a hippie with hippie political views.
I honestly forget what they call Woden in the comics. It all starts to blur together at some point. In high school, once I got into Tolkien I started reading everything I could get my hands on about Norse myth, including Marvel's series, and there are variant spellings. Odin. Odinn. Woden. Wotan. All the same guy.
I'm laughing that all the comments (thus far) have been related to Thor. That's the one I'm *least* looking forward to! But if Kes wants to go for her birthday, I'm there. (Assuming the reviews are favorable, content wise.)
Yay! We get hippie Thor instead of numbskull Thor from the 1960s!
ReplyDeleteI always pictured Woden as more Gandalf-like when I read Norse myth, though.
