The Assembly Ball: Part 1

Did you ever think I would post these pictures?
At long last, (and without further eloquence ;) "The Assembly Ball."
After some complications with our first facility, we weren't sure we would be able to have a ball...
But, by God's kind providence and the generosity of a local church, we were still able to host our event.
We set up TONS of chairs the day before.
And the day of, we brought music. What genre?
Soul. And who better than Sam Cooke?!
We only had 1 1/2 hrs to set up. Rush, rush, rush!
Yet come together, it did. Mrs. B is a wonder with the decorations!!
Aren't they gorgeous?
The drink table may be my favorite new addition to our set up. :O)
Mmm. Old South punch. Yummy!
With so many good cooks, the Old South Ball food is guaranteed to be delicious.
And...
Look pretty.
Dee, Andrew, and I worked quite hard on our napkins project.
The finished product angle.
Despite our busy schedule, we did take some time for posed photos!
With set up finished, the guests arrived...
Stay tuned...

Lunch with Ineke

It has far too long since I was able to have lunch with my girlie! (And Ana, we should schedule our lunch soon!)
Me an Ineke
So, have lunch we did. Calzones and sodas. Yum. Exchanging stories, shaking with laughter, and swapping book recommendations, we had a lively visit; I couldn't have asked for a better afternoon.
Walking down the street, we visited a delightful children' shop... and of course, we quickly made our way to the books section.
After borrowing some books from Ineke and looking at her artwork (She has talent!), I made way home.
And got to ride the PRT. How I've missed it!

And Just One More Practice

With one day to go before the Assembly Ball, we held another practice at my home...
And in my humble opinion, it was a blast!
One of my favorite elements of a dance practice is watching the beautiful atmosphere. Good, wholesome, fun.
People laughing, smiling, swapping stories, and sharing memories.
The Young Widow
Glorifying God in "whatever we do."
I don't know what's going on here... to be perfectly honest. :)
Do-si-do
The above is self-explanatory, yeah?
Daniel
Clearly, my brother is enjoying himself. :)
Keely took this amazing, ground photo. Isn't it awesome? Thanks, girlie!
Tythe Pig
But sometimes a dance practice isn't all fun and games.
We had a serious problem with some of our music... and for several practices, it had been giving us fits.
With the help of Jake and Josh, though, we soon set it to rights!
And so we thought we were ready! Unfortunately at the ball, the music still didn't cooperate. Ah, well. Live and Learn.

93° Dance Practice

Whew! It was hot! Yet, many of our friends ventured out to dance in the crazy weather.
See?
Lancer's Quadrille
At the end of the day, some of us came away with sunburn; others came away with a nice tan. Regardless, it was miserably warm.
And yet, we danced...
Even with smiles!
It was fun to pull out the old favorites. Like the Gothic.
I didn't dance this one, therefore I have TONS of pictures. :)
Doesn't it look like fun?!

Did I mention I had TONS of pictures of the Gothic? :P
Until next time...

All Hail... Dance Practice?

My blog has been embarrassingly slow of late! So sorry. After three dances practice, an unexpected illness, the ball, a wedding, and a vacation (not to mention all the everyday, normal living), I haven't had a large chunk of time to update the blog. However, many, many posts are in the pipeline. Thanks for your patience!

Okay. To begin...
Going back a little while - before the ball...
We had scheduled an evening dance practice, and two hours before the dance practice was to commence, it began hailing. LOTS. And pouring. LOTS.
But, by God's rich grace and mercy, the sun came out and (you guessed it) dried up all the rain.

So, despite the rough weather, we had quite a delightful evening for dancing!

We were all smiles!

Yet, as it became dark, we were in for another storm...
Ship's Cook
Ever heard of "Singing in the Rain?"
Ship's Cook cont.
We have! And we were "[Dancing] in the Rain." Ok. Maybe that's a little corny.
Me, Kiri, Keely
But, we sure did have fun!

Can't you tell?
