Weekend with Friends

Memorial Day weekend, the my family had the pleasure to visit with the old friends...
Lisa
Well, maybe not so old.
Joel
I especially enjoyed running around with the munchkins - feeling Lisa's little hand in mine, listening to her questions and comments, and loving her obedient spirit. Praise God!
And I was so proud of her becoming friends with Fred!
Thanks so much for coming, Ken, Debbie, Lisa, & Joel! We loved having you!

Book List 2011: MYSTERY MAY

I don't know how many of you decided to participate in MYSTERY MAY, but if you did, I expect you enjoyed it as much as I did. And I can't wait to try it again! Although the month of May was quite busy for my family, I'm so glad that I read mysteries. Themed months are such fun!

Especially when you try new genres and authors. For instance, I know heartily recommend Sherlock Holmes; A Study in Scarlet is now one of my favorite books! (The graphic novel is throughly engaging too.) The subtle brilliance of Father Brown is not to be missed, and if you've never met Tommy and Tuppence, now is your moment.

And I've already started a list for the next MYSTERY month:
Dorothy Sayers
Margaret Maron?
Edward Gorey?
Jane Austen Mystery
Rebecca
May 2011
The Tower Treasure by Franklin W. Dixon
A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
N or M? by Agatha Christie
A Study in Scarlet: Graphic Novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle & I.N.J. Culbard & Ian Edginton
The Innocence of Father Brown by G.K.Chesterton (part of)

Book Thieves and the Tides

Being at the Berry home never ceases to amaze me; the kids, with their cheerful smiles and eager faces, are often ready to start the day.
Along with school work, we also find the time to play some games... And the games that we play together are funny and delightful.
Like "bookstore."
Though sometimes, a robber tries to steal from the cash register.
Their smilies certainly give me one.
Together, Noah, Maggie and I also learned about the tides. Do you know the difference between a Spring tide and a Neap tide? Maybe the picture below will give you a hint.
I couldn't resist sharing a pictures of Noah's sun artwork. :)

Let's Go Bucs!

Reconnecting with previous acquaintances is often a fun experience, especially when those acquaintances become good friends! And my family's friendship with the Manns certainly follows this rule. :O)
While our friendship grows, we converse, tell stories, and share meals together. And the Manns were sweet enough to invite me to a baseball game.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Mann couldn't attend (and she was missed!), but they also invited my dad. Whoot! So, the four of us (Mr. Mann, Dad, Devin, and I) set off for an evening of food and America's favorite pastime.
I never knew how much goes on at a baseball game! Games, food, music, and of course, baseball!
Unfortunately, the Pirates lost the game. Bummer. But the rest of the time? Priceless. The day was beautiful, the food was delicious, and our visit with the Manns? Superb. :)
